MATCH REPORTS

Amarenco Junior Football League 2, Glenbower Rovers 4-13, Dungourney 0-10, April 12th 2025

Our fourth football league match was played in Dungourney and it was notable for the appearance of seasoned campaigners Davy Kelleher and young Johnno O’Connor from the bench. Our team brought their shooting boots, with Rob Sinclair leading the charge with the first green flag from throw-in. Paudie Mackey and captain Brendan Delaney added further green flags in the first half while Paudie added a fourth in the second half. A comprehensive win, with three matches left before championship kicks in – away to Bride Rovers on Friday next and then at home to Aghada on Friday May 9th, before our annual away trip to table-toppers Glenville in early June.

Team: Colin Walsh, Barry Motherway, George Walsh, Padraig Leahy, Robbie Treacy, Brendan Delaney, Ciaran Leahy, Rob Sinclair, Evan Lane, Colm Leahy, Jamie Fogarty, Eoin Brenner, Paudie Mackey, Davy Kelleher, Aaron Fitzgibbon, Fionn Brennan, Darragh O’Connor, Johnno O’Connor.

Red FM Division 2 Hurling League Ballymartle 1-14, Killeagh 0-15, April 17th 2015

Red FM Division 7 Hurling League Meelin 0-20, Killeagh 2-14, April 19th 2025

Our two adult hurling teams had challenging away trips in the past week. A last minute goal caught our seniors out in Ballymartle on Holy Thursday while our depleted Junior A team managed a draw in far away Meelin on Saturday. With our roving reporters MIA, we’ll leave it there until the next round.

Rebel Óg East Minor Hurling League, Ballinora 1-17, Killeagh 1-11, April 2nd 2025

Our Minor Hurlers continued their league campaign with an away tie v Ballinora on April 2nd. Ballinora started well and hit the first 3 points of the game. We responded with points from Fionn and a free from Cian. Ballinora’s strong running was causing us problems and they went in leading 0-8 to 0-3.

In the second half we upped the performance. However, poor shooting and missed chances proved costly. Adam made a great save midway through the second half, but Ballinora were quickest to the rebound to goal. A late Alex Fogarty goal put a gloss on the scoreline. Best for Killeagh on the night were Oran, Rian, Tadgh, Andrew, John and Dara.

Team: Adam Barry, Patrick Dineen, Oran Cunningham, Rian O’Connor, Aidan McNamee, Jack Coleman (0-1), Tadgh Considine, Cian O’Riordan (0-3f), Andrew Brenner (0-1), Alex Howey, John Ogbebor, Fionn Brennan (0-2), Cormac Delaney, John Farquhar (0-4, 0-3f), Dara McDonald,  Eoin Roche, Alex Fogarty (1-0), Tom Power, Jack Farquhar, Ronan O’Riordan

Well done to Cormac and Ben on their involvement with the Cork Minor hurlers who recently beat Limerick in the Gaelic Grounds. Cormac had an outstanding game scoring 1-4 in Cork’s win.

Rebel Óg East Minor Hurling League, Killeagh 1-17, Lisgoold 3-06, April 9th 2025

On Wednesday 9th April, we hosted Lisgoold in the fourth round of the minor hurling league. We started the better team working some good scores. However, we conceded 3 sloppy goals, 2 of them after great saves initially from Adam. This meant we went in at half time level, on a scoreline of 0-11 to 3-2, despite having done most of the hurling.

In the second half we tightened up at the back and continued to use the ball well to run out winners on a scoreline of 1-17 to 3-6, Cormac Delaney got the goal with 10 minutes remaining. Our defence was ably led by Tadgh and Jack with Rian and Cian clearing their lines well throughout. Alex Howey and Andrew put in a solid shift at midfield. Up front John Farquhar, Aidan McNamee and Cormac Delaney impressed.

Team: Adam Barry, Patrick Dineen, Tadgh Considine, Rian O’Connor, Oran Cunningham, Jack Coleman, Cian O’Riordan (0-1f), Andrew Brenner (0-1), Alex Howey, Aidan McNamee (0-2), John Ogbebor (0-2), Fionn Brennan (0-1), Cormac Delaney (1-3), John Farquhar (0-7, 0-5f), Dara McDonald, Eoin Roche, Alex Fogarty, Billy Guerin, Tom Power, Jack Farquhar, Ronan O’Riordan
