Vice President Fr Colie O Donovan RIP

It was with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of our esteemed Vice President Fr Coile O Donovan. He was an accomplished hurler in his day having played at the highest level with his school, club and county and was a great supporter of our Club and a regular visitor at our Monday Club.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Allianz All Ireland League Champions 2025
Congratulations to Bríon, Tommy, Conor and all of the Cork Hurling Team and Management who were crowned League champions on Sunday in Pairc Uí Chaoimh where they defeated Tipperary in the divison 1A final on a scoreline of 3-24 to 0-23. This was Corks first title in 27 years and was a long time coming. This will be great preparation for their opening game of the Championship when they travel to Ennis on Sunday April 20th to play Clare.

Best of luck to Cian Lawton and Senan Carroll and the Cork Minor Hurlers who play Clare in Tulla this Saturday at 2pm for their 2nd round robin game.

The lads assisted by the breeze were leading at half time, however on the resumption the conditions were an influence, and they lost out on a scoreline of 3.11 to 4.13

U15

On Thursday last we hosted St Finbarr’s in Park South for our 1 st league game of the campaign. This was our first competitive game since our Premier 1 county win last year so it was great to get back at. We have played some high-quality challenge matches up and down the country so we were well prepared for the start of the league. We played against the wind in the first half but led at the break by 5 points. We continued to knock over the points in the second half and also added 2 nice goals. We ran out 2:19 to 1:5 victors on the night. This year’s u15 premier league is a mix of P1 and P2 teams from last which is a good idea so teams can see what level they are at. On Sunday night we have an away fixture against what is usually a strong Ballincollig outfit.

On Saturday afternoon our 2nd team travelled to Nemo to play the hosts in the u16 div 5 league. This team is playing as Midleton 3rd u16 outfit but is made up entirely of our u15s. This competition was chosen as it gives the lads a good number of games at good level. We didn’t have a great start to this game even playing with a very helpful wind as we went a few scores down early on. In fairness to the lads, they came more into the match as it wore on and were unlucky not to score a couple of goals while Nemo were nailing every chance they got. The performance was much improved from the Youghal match even though we were on the wrong side of a 5-7 to 1-7 score line. The team is out again on Saturday against Blackrock.

Ladies Football

U13

Our U13 girls continued their league campaign with a victory over Erins Own on Sunday in Caherlag. Another fantastic performance by all the girls. Captain for the day was Niamh who was excellent as always in goal.

Junior Ladies League

Our Junior ladies had an extremely long journey to Skibbereen on Tuesday evening for their first league game of their campaign. This was the first time that this group of girls played together and they played some great football. Unfortunately, the result did not go our way but the girls could not be faulted for the effort on the pitch. Captain on the night was Caoimhe Cronin.  Many thanks to all the Parents and Players for making the effort to travel mid week.

Well done to our U14 player Ciara who was part of the Cork U14 team who topped the table yesterday and are now into the final on Thursday against Limerick.

Our U10s got there 2025 Go Games underway on Sunday morning with a blitz versus Carrigtwohll in Park South. Brilliant display all round. Well done girls

Under 11’s:

Our  U11s played their second camogie blitz of the season at Castle Road last Sunday morning taking on Blackrock and Sars. The girls put in fantastic performances, showcasing great teamwork, impressive skills, and most importantly, having lots of fun throughout the morning. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day for all involved—well done to the girls for their effort and enthusiasm.

Under 12’s:

Captained by Lucy on Sunday morning our u12’s had a great win over strong opposition Bride Rovers. There were some nerves and a few slow starts but the girls hit their rhythm and grew into the game. It was our first full game on the bigger pitch with an independent referee and it was a great learning experience for us all. We were all delighted with the efforts all of the girls gave when they were on the pitch. Thanks also, to the 2 U11s that helped us out.

U14

The u14 ladies performed very well in a loss to Watergrasshill U15 C league match on Saturday evening, April 4th. They were winning when the halftime whistle blew, but just lost out narrowly in the end. They showed great improvements on their previous 2 matches and working together throughout the whole match. Well done, ladies!!

Under 15’s:

Well done to our U15’s on a great challenge match against Dungourney on Tuesday evening at home in Clonmult. Best of Luck to all the Team next weekend in the Féile competition.

Under 16’s:

Our U16’s got their League campaign underway on Saturday last away to The Barrs. In a fierce battle the Barrs unfortunately came out on top. Well done to Kerrie, Captain on the day.
