LADIES FOOTBALL
MINOR COUNTY SEMI-FINAL
MIDLETON 2-9 TADHG MCCARTAIGHS 3-9
A disappointing day that just wasn't to be. For a team who only started training as a minor group six weeks ago to get to a county semi final is an achievement in itself. We as mentors are so lucky to have such an amazing group of girls.
The girls fought hard till the end but only three points divided the teams.
Final score Midleton 2-9 Tadgh McCartaighs 3-9.
Captain on the day was Kate Saunderson.
Thanks to all the girls, the management team and everyone who helped us out. Most importantly thank you the parents for getting the girls to training and to matches.
Thanks to Rayanna Power who came to our final training session to help us and all the junior girls who supported us on the day on the line. With only three of the 23 girls we have on our panel overage for next year the future is very promising for the club.
AGM
It’s that time of the year again.
Midleton Ladies Football Club will hold its AGM on Wednesday 27th November at 7.30pm in Midleton GAA Club. All welcome to attend.
U-13 DIVISIONAL FINAL
Best of luck to our U-13 players Ciara and Maeve who will represent Midleton and East Cork in the U-13 Divisional cup final against West Cork in Delaneys on Saturday morning.
CAMOGIE
MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP
Our minors bowed out of the minor championship at the weekend at the quarter-final stage against Glen Rovers in the Colleges Field in Blackrock.
The girls have been fantastic all year but unfortunately came up against a better side on the night. We wish all the girls now who will be leaving the minor ranks the very best of luck in the club's adult teams. These girls will be the mainstay of our adult groups going forward. Well done girls.
JUVENILES

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY
Waterford and Cork will play a Senior Hurling Challenge at Fraher Field on Saturday, January 4 in aid of former Déise hurler Brian Greene and Waterford Hospice.
Brian was diagnosed with cancer in May, 2022 and is currently undergoing treatment. The match was launched at The Park Hotel in Dungarvan last week. Tickets will be priced at €10. Throw in is at 5pm.
Greene achieved Munster glory with both Waterford and Mount Sion in 2002. The number seven fell to his knees at the final whistle when the Déise won their first provincial title in 39 years against Tipperary at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
Former Déise and Lismore forward Seán Daly has been one of the driving forces behind this event. “The GAA is a family organisation. When your family are in trouble, people rally around. For me, it’s supporting a friend. Plain and simple. No more than anybody else in the room here, we’re supporting somebody that wants our help right now. Let’s drive it on and make it a good night.”
Déise chairman Sean Michael O’Regan recalled Greene’s part in the 2002 Munster breakthrough. “The picture of Brian at the end of the game, that’s the way everybody was in the stands. The raw emotion that day after so many defeats, after so many years. To win a Munster final was huge and to have the Greene name associated with that was only fitting and proper.”
Current Waterford coach Dan Shanahan often marked the Mount Sion man in training. “If you got the better of Brian Greene, you were having a good night! I’m honoured to be here for such a good cause.” Players Austin Gleeson, PJ Fanning and Kieran Bennett as well as team secretary Ger Harris were also in attendance.
Cork coach and Cappoquin native Donal O’Rourke said that the Rebel players and management are happy to lend their support. “Whatever has to be done, we’ll do it. What Brian has, unfortunately has been under every roof in Ireland and has touched every family in Ireland.” Brendan Coleman, Ciarán Joyce, Niall O Leary and Ger Mellerick also represented Cork on the night of the launch.
CLUB HOUSE
We have a smashing club house, bar and hall, at Midleton GAA Club and don't forget that these are available to hire for functions....see below for details....
