MEET AND GREET
On Tuesday evening we held a meet and greet with our younger members of our club. It was a great evening with members of the team signing jerseys and footballs. The Junior ladies were delighted with all those who gave their best wishes for Saturday’s game.
UNDER 14 EAST CORK CHAMPIONSHIP
On Monday evening we travelled to St Nicks for the semi-final of the East Cork Championship. A tough game between both teams who were evenly matched in stages of the game. However it was St Nicks who came away with the victory. We had 25 girls who all got game time on the night. Captain for the game was Anna. Well done to you all.
That was the final game of the season for this group. Many thanks to all the Parents and the girls for their hard work and traveling throughout the year. We will now take a well earned rest for this year.
CAMOGIE
UNDER 9S
Our U-9s enjoyed an action-packed day at their end of season day out at Fota Adventure Centre. The girls and coaches enjoyed Bushcraft, shelter building, toasting marshmallows, obstacle courses and more. The girls had a fantastic day out and thanks to the coaches and mentors for organising.
UNDER 13S
Our camogie ladies represented Midleton in outstanding fashion against Inniscarra in the U-14 (B) 2nds County Championship Final on Saturday last in Ballygarvan.
Unfortunately, they were defeated by the narrowest of margins by a score line of 0-2 to 0-3.
Congratulations to Inniscarra on winning the County Final. The Midleton girls did everything out on the pitch for which they have everything to be proud of!
Thank you to all the U12s who joined us on this journey, to all our coaches, parents and supporters and to the hosts Ballygarvan GAA.
MINORS
A brilliant performance from our minor girls on Sunday last in Ballincollig against a fancied home side.
This was a must win game to keep qualification hopes alive. We were down a number of players for various reasons and after a very disappointing one goal loss to Rockbán the previous week, a win was essential.
The girls were brilliant, leading 1-8 to 1-2 at half-time they drove on to win 4-12 to 1-5. All 18 girls were outstanding but particular mention goes to the U16s who were tremendous. We now have a must win home game verses Newcestown to try and make qualification for the knockout stages. Well done girls.
ADULT CLUB
EAST CORK U-21 A HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
MIDLETON 0-25 CARRIGTWOHILL 1-20
Photo: Carrigtwohill GAA on Facebook.
Our Fé 21 A hurlers made it two wins from two after a hard fought and very entertaining encounter with neighbours Carrigtwohill in front of a big crowd at Clonmult Memorial Park on Sunday morning last.
Two points from Rory Hartnett and a free from Mikey Finn saw us lead by 0-3 to 0-1 after five minutes.
Further points from Mikey Finn, Peter Barrett and Dara Scanlon saw us level at 0-6 apiece after 19 minutes.
We went on to finish the first-half strongly and points from Mikey Finn (3), Rory Hartnett (2), Darragh McCarthy, Evan McCarthy and Alex Quirke saw us lead by 0-14 to 0-9 at the half-time interval.
We started brightly after the break with five of the first six points, through Mikey Finn (3), David Cremin and Peter Barrett to see us lead by 0-19 to 0-10 after 37 minutes. Amazingly we wouldn't register a score for the next 12 minutes and during this period Carrigtwohill scored 1-5 to reduce the gap to a single point with 11 minutes to play.
We kicked back into gear with five of the next six white flags from Peter Barrett, Mikey Finn, David Cremin, Evan McGrath and Darragh McCarthy to lead by five (0-24 to 1-16) with four minutes to play. Carrig hit back but David Cremin replied in injury-time before Carrig hit the last three points deep in stoppage time to cut the gap to two but we held out for a good win after a good honest battle.
This win puts us into an East Cork semi-final. Date, opposition and venue to be confirmed.
Midleton scorers: Mikey Finn 0-9 (0-7 frees), Rory Hartnett 0-4, David Cremin and Peter Barrett 0-3 each, Darragh McCarthy 0-2, Dara Scanlon, Evan McCarthy, Alex Quirke and Evan McGrath 0-1 each.
MIDLETON: Bríon Saunderson; Tomás Dunlea, Adam Fay, Cathraigh Cronin, Rory Hartnett, Ciarmhac Smyth, Evan McCarthy; Mikey Finn, Evan McGrath; Darragh McCarthy, Alex Quirke, Dara Scanlon; David Cremin, Conor Morley, Peter Barrett. Subs used: Cathal Beausang, Cian Stack and Tadhg O'Leary Hayes.
UNDER 21 B CHAMPIONSHIP
Our U-21 B team were supposed to be in action on Saturday last but Watergrasshill conceded the game early that morning.
They are in action this coming Sunday when they travel to Cloyne (new pitch) to face St. Colmans at 11.30am. Best of luck lads.

A big congratulations to St. John The Baptist National School who won their first ever Sciath na Scol Football title when they defeated Ballincurrig in an East Cork derby final in Pairc Uí Chaoimh on Thursday.
The achievement is even more spectacular when one considers that this is the school's first time ever competing in the competition. Well done to all involved.
