Youghal Minor Ladies are 2024 East Cork Championship Winners

Congratulations to our Minors who are East Cork Championship Winners for 2024, beating Midleton in a very competitive game last Saturday.

The two evenly matched teams played a great game of football, with Youghal finishing out in front at the final whistle.

We are delighted and proud of this amazing group.

Youghal's Andrew Curtin

Congratulations to our own Andrew Curtin, who lined out for St Gabriel’s Hurling Club in the London Senior Hurling Final last Sunday afternoon in Ruislip and came away with a well deserved win.

Up The Youghal Boys!

Youghal LGFA PDP

As with the U13's, some of our U15's also took part in the PDP this summer. They have also been taking part in trials over the last few weeks.

Congratulations to Niamh Murray who has been selected for the East Cork divisional team.

Well done on all your hard work Niamh.

We are delighted to have Youghal LGFA represented with both Niamh and Lauren. The future is bright for Youghal LGFA

Dan O Sullivan RIP

Cumann Lúth Chleas Gael Eochaill are deeply saddened at the passing of clubman Dan O’Sullivan. We extend our sincere sympathy to his wife Kitty, family Pat, Doney, Finbarr, Marie and Kayti, his sister Eileen and all extended families.

Dan was involved in the club for over seventy years. He was a member of our 1955 hurling team winning the first Intermediate County hurling title for the club. He played a big part in that victory scoring a goal, described in Up The Youghal Boys as 'a shot that a stonewall would hardly have stopped’.

After Dan’s playing career finished he immersed himself in the club as a volunteer, selector and committee member and was always more than willing to contribute his knowledge and expertise in any way he could.

He was our Club Uachtarán from 2012 to 2014 and held the position with great dignity and enthusiasm. There is no doubt Dan was a true clubman in every sense of the word and will be sadly missed by all of us.

Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Climate Action Week

Youghal GAA/CLG Eochaill is taking part in Climate Action Week in conjunction with the Youghal Blue and Green Network from Oct 12th-20th.

For the period of the Action Week we would ask our members, families and patrons to adhere to the following:

*Use Reusable Drink/ Water Bottles not Single use bottles*

In addition to the harmful environmental impact of single-use plastics, they contribute to littering in our club and community.

*Travel to training/ matches by more eco friendly means*

We encourage travelling to training/ matches by walking, cycling or carpooling with other teammates during Climate Action Week. Unnecessary car use contributes to pollution and congestion as well as sedentary lifestyles.

*Beach Clean with Youghal Clean Coasts Group Sat 12th Oct*

Youghal GAA members are invited to join the Youghal Clean Coasts Group for a beach clean at Youghal’ s Front Strand and Claycastle beaches on Saturday 12th Oct. Meet at 2pm at Front Strand lifeguard station. Dress for the weather forecast, bring outdoor gloves if you have them, bags and pickers provided.

*Community Walk and Litter Pick Sunday 13th Oct*

Youghal GAA will organise a community walk and litter pick on Sunday 13th Oct. Meeting at 11am at Barry's Lane in Youghal town the walk will begin and follow a pedestrian route to Youghal GAA via the Jail Steps, with two diverging paths, one via Spa Hill and the other via Sarsfield Terrace/Raheen Park, before finishing at Youghal GAA Club Áras, Magners Hill. Along the walk Youghal GAA volunteers will litter pick. Litter pickers and refuse bags will be provided, and we encourage volunteers to bring their own gloves and wear club colours. Along the way, we will pick up litter but also show that walking is an effective and eco-friendly means of travel to our club.
