SEMI-FINAL HEARTBREAK FOR SENIORS

CO-OPSUPERSTORES COUNTY PREMIER SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL

MIDLETON 0-21 SARSFIELDS 0-22

This was definitely a case of so close and yet so far as a 63rd minute Sars point saw us miss out on back-to-back county finals by the narrowest of margins.

It was Sars who opened the brighter in this game and led by 0-5 to 0-1 after eleven minutes with our lone white flag coming from a Conor Lehane free. Three more points from Conor Lehane saw us claw our way back into the game to trail by 0-6 to 0-4 after 16 minutes.

Points from Conor Lehane, David Cremin and Luke O'Farrell with two in reply for Sars saw us trail by just one with seven first-half minutes to play but then we hit five in a row through Conor Lehane (3), Ross O'Regan and Eoin Moloney to lead by four (0-12 to 0-8) in first-half stoppage time before Sars struck the last point of the opening half to see us lead by a goal at the break.

Sars opened the second-half scoring before a cracker from Ross O'Regan before Sars hit eight of the next ten points (our two coming from Conor Lehane and Pa White) to see them lead by three (0-18 to 0-15) with ten minutes to play.

Two in a row from Conor Lehane made it a one point game once again before two from Sars put them back three in front.

But three on the bounce from Alex Quirke, Conor Lehane and Cormac Beausang saw the match level at 0-20 each with three minutes to go.

A Sars free put them back in front in the final minute before a Conor Lehane free levelled proceedings in the 63rd minute before Sars hit the winner 30 seconds later and that was that.

A big thank you to all the players, management and backroom team who put in a tremendous effort all year.

Midleton scorers: Conor Lehane 0-13 (0-7 f, 0-2 '65), Ross O’Regan 0-2, Alex Quirke, Eoin Moloney, Luke O’Farrell, Pa White, Davy Cremin, Cormac Beausang 0-1 each.

MIDLETON: Bríon Saunderson; Ciarmhac Smyth, Luke Dineen, Seannaidh Smyth; Eoin Moloney, Tommy O’Connell, Sam Quirke; Mkey Finn, Sean O’Meara; Ross O’Regan, Alex Quirke, Conor Lehane; David Cremin, Luke O’Farrell, Pa White. Subs: Paul Haughney for Finn, Cormac Beausang for White.

EAST CORK JAHC RELEGATION PLAYOFF

MIDLETON 2-4 CARRIGTWOHILL 2-18

A bad (late) night at the office for our Junior A Hurlers in Carrigtwohill on Thursday night as they took on Carrigtwohill to see who could avoid dropping from Junior A to Junior B for the 2025 championship season.

Carrigtwohill, playing with a strong breeze, raced out of the traps and led by 1-7 to 0-0 afer the opening quarter.

Mark O'Keeffe pointed soon after before Conor Morley goaled to make it 1-8 to 1-1 with 23 minutes gone and by the half-time whistle it was 1-11 to 1-2 with out second white flag coming from Dan Cagney.

We needed a fast start to the second period to have any chance and unfortunately it didn't come. By the three quarter mark the gap was out to 11 (1-15 to 1-4) before Dara Scanlon got our last score, a goal, with 12 mintues to go and we ended up losing by 14 points on a night to be forgotten.

MIDLETON: Zach Smith, Carthraigh Cronin, Charlie Walsh, Alex Moloney, Dara Scanlon, Patrik Kane, Dan Cagney, Eoghan Fraser, Jack Fitzgerald, Mark O'Keeffe, Ryan McConville, Darragh Egan, Cathal Beausang, Conor Morley, Harry Wall. Subs used: Daniel Garde for Harry Wall, Sean McSharry for Dan Cagney, Padraig Nagle for Darragh Egan, Christian Daly for Mark O'Keeffe, Chris Power for Cathal Beausang.

MAGPIES ALL STARS

You would have been hard pressed to see a more joyous scenes at SuperValu Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Sunday. The crowd were treated to a great half-time display of hurling on by Midleton’s Magpies All-Stars.
