Semi-Final Spot for Hill

Our intermediate hurlers secured direct passage to the semi-final of the Premier Intermediate County Championship on Sunday with a 4 point win over Valley Rovers in Páirc Uí Rinn on Sunday. In truth, the gap could have been a lot more but for the accuracy of Valley’s Colm Butler who scored 0-7 from placed balls. The opening period of the game saw the teams exchange scores, with the hill each time pushing a point of two ahead, but for Valley’s to pull level. The pivotal moment of the first half came from Seán Desmond on 23 minutes who rattled the net following a long clearance, before that goal, Valley’s were actually ahead 0-6 to 0-7, but Desmond’s goal put us 1-6 to 0-6 ahead. At the break we were good value for our 3 point lead, 1-09 to 0-09. Following an early exchange of points after the restart, after 3 second half minutes, Brendan Lehane finished sublimely into the top corner following great work by Dáire O’Leary and Adam Murphy, and the lead was stretched back to 2-10 to 0-10. With the hill now scoring well from play, and Aiden Foley adding a huge effort from a placed ball, the lead had stretched to 8 points, before a goal from Valleys, left the score 2-13 to 1-11 after 14 second half minutes. As Valley’s lost momentum I the closing quarter and the hill defense defiant, the game finished 2-18 to 1-17 and we topped the group to progress straight into the semi-finals where we await the winners of Mallow and Dungourney.

Well done to the lads on a great campaign thus far – some super performances in both league and championship and we look forward to the semi-final.

Under 8’s in action

Well done to our under 8 boys who played in Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday at half time in the Premier Intermediate game against Valley Rovers. The boys had a great day out and made the most of their time so many thanks to the coaches and parents who helped to organize – a great memory for the boys.

Under 6’s new tops

This year both Glenville and Watergrasshill GAA have come together to create training tops for our new starters. Training tops were distributed today to our u5's and U6's boys and were a big hit. Tops will be worn for both hurling and football matches. The future stars of our clubs
