IN THE RED OF CORK

What can we say about last Sunday's All-Ireland Hurling Final. An absolute epic of a game but unfortunately, by the narrowest of margins, our Cork heroes came out on the wrong side of the result after over 90 minutes of incredible action. A big well done to all the Cork players and management for giving us supporterts an incredible few months and especially to our own Conor Lehane, Tommy O'Connell and Brion Saunderson. Hard luck boys but thanks for all your effort and class.

Well done too to our own Michael O'Connell (second from right in the front row) who was part of the All-Ireland winning Cork team from 1999 that was introduced to the crowd before the main event. Our ladies football chairman, Brian Sheedy, was also part of the weekend festivities, representing his father Fred who was a selector in '99.

Our P1 minor hurlers got their championship campaign off to a great start on Wednesday night when they got the better of Inniscarra in Ballyanly on a perfect night for hurling.

We absolutely flew out of the traps and were five points to no score in front after four minutes thanks to white flags from Peter Barrett (2), Eoghan Frazer, Josh Hogan and Darragh Egan. Things got even better a minute late when Conor Morley struck for the game's opening goal. Josh Hogan added a point before Morley bagged his second green flag and Cian Stack pointed soon after to see us lead by 2-7 to 0-1 after a blistering opening 10 minutes.

Further points followed from Peter Barrett, Conor Morley, Cian Stack and Darragh Egan before Cian Stack struck for our third goal just before the interval to see us leady by 3-11 to 0-4 at half-time.

Second-half points followed from Conor Morley, Peter Barrett (2) and Fionn Kelly and 1-1 from Daniel Garde to see us run out deserving winners by 4-16 to 0-10.

We would like to wish regular goalie Conor Finn a speedy recovery and well done to Senan Carroll on stepping in to the netminder's jersey.
