JUVENILES

FÉ14 COUNTY CHAMPIONS ON THE DOUBLE

What a week it was for the Fé14s as they won two county titles in six days.

Having won a thrilling Fé13 county final in 2022, this great bunch of lads made the journey to Bishopstown on Friday night to take on East Cork rivals Sarsfields in the 2023 Fé14 P1 hurling final, attempting to achieve the difficult feat of back-to-back county titles.

Two goals from John O'Sullivan and points from John O'Sullivan (2), Charlie McCarthy, Liam Walsh and Ciaran O'Brien gave us 2-5 to 0-2 lead at half-time

Further goals from Ciaran O'Brien (3) and some great points from a host of different scorers saw us run out deserving winners after an excellent team performance. Well done lads and all the coaches on a great season that also saw them win the league.

After the game, Martin O'Brien from Rebel Óg and Donie Keohane, on behalf of the Keohane family, presented the Sean Keohane Cup to Midleton captain, Cian Hogan. It is great to see a great Midleton club man like Sean Keohane honoured with this cup and thankfully it's our second time in recent years winning it after it eluded us for quite a while.

MIDLETON: Will Stokes, Cian Hogan, Peadar Egan, Josh Quill, Breaninn O Dalaigh, Ciaran Kelly, Rian McCormack, Alfie Hennessy, Finn Cahill, Liam Walsh, Charlie McCarthy, John O'Sullivan, Alex Molumby, Jack Cahill, Ciaran O'Brien. Subs: Eoghan Donovan, Ethan Foley, Rory Nolan, Manus Stewart, Patrick O'Brien, Donncha Butler, Daire Crowley, Jack Sweeney, Charlie Cahill, Patrick Spellman, Daniel Moloney, Braden Dunlea, Finn Murray, Aidan O'Regan, Daniel O'Connell, Rohan Fitzsimmons, Aaaron Murphy, Sebastian Mowinski.

Then on Wednesday night Glenville was the venue for their P2 County Football Final clash with Nemo Rangers.

After a hugely entertaining and high scoring encounter it was the Magpies who came out on top on a final score of 6-9 to 4-5. Well done lads and coaches...what a week - what a team!

FÉ15S

FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP V KILTHA ÓG

Midleton welcomed Kiltha Óg to Clonmult Memorial Park for the first match of this year’s Fé15 football championship on Monday night.

Playing against the breeze the lads played some good football in the first-half but found the scores hard to find. Our opening score was a neat finish to the net by James O’Meara after some great link up play outfield. At half-time the score was Midleton 1-2 Kiltha Og 0-7.

Despite turning to pay with the breeze in the second-half it was the visitors who came out on top at the final whistle with the final score Midleton 1-5 Kiltha Óg 2-9.

MIDLETON PANEL: Bradley O’Brien, Patrick Collins, Fionn Bohan, Dara Cahill, Patrick O’Dowd, Shane O’Mahony, Ruairi O’Riordan, Scott Dunlea, Harry Waterman, James O’Meara, Dara Birdthistle (captain), Darragh Mullins, Michael Allegrini, Ewan Murphy, Alex Horgan, Charlie McCarthy, Peader Egan, Ciaran Kelly, Josh Quill, Senan Carroll.

FÉ17 LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

The Midleton minors hosted Glen Rovers in the Fé17 P1 County Hurling League Final in Clonmult Memorial Park on Wednesday night and they lifted the trophy after an excellent performance that saw them win on a final scoreline of 2-22 to 1-20. Well done lads and the coaches. A great warm-up for the upcoming championship.

CÚL CAMP - WEEK ONE

Our first Cúl Camp of 2023 came to an end last Friday with a much appreciated visit from our our Jill Connaughton and the All-Ireland minor camogie championship cup....here are some pictures. Thanks to all our kids, coaches and helpers for making it a great week...

CAMOGIE

IN THE RED OF CORK

Well done to Roisín who lined out for the Cork U-15s away to Kilkenny on Saturday morning playing a large part in a very close encounter. Unfortunately, Kilkenny won out in the end with a close margin of 1-9 to 1-6. Your coaches and club are very proud.

Well done to Faye who lined out for Cork U-15s against Claire in the sunshine in Kilworth on Saturday morning playing her part in a win for Cork. Well done Faye.

ADULT CLUB

SENIOR HURLING CHALLENGE

Our senior hurlers travelled to Roanmore in Waterford City on Sunday morning last and after a good run out for both sides it was the home team that came out on top. All systems are now go for the championship which begins three weeks from Saturday against Bishopstown.

MICK TOBIN CUP FINAL

A big well done to our intermediate hurlers who travelled to Knockanore on Tuesday evening to take on the Shamrocks in the annual Mick Tobin Cup Final. After suffering defeat at home in 2022, Keith Ryan and his team were determined to bring the Cup back to Midleton and that's exactly what they did after a thrilling hour plus of hurling.

After trailing by seven (1-12 to 0-8) at half-time the Magpies roared back into the game in the second-half and at the end of the hour it was all level on a score of 1-22 apiece. And so penalties were required - I wonder what Mick would have made of that?

Anyway after a high standard shootout we came out on top by five to four.

After the game our captain, James Nagle (pictured below), received the cup from Mick's son David and other members of the Tobin family. Thanks to the Tobin family and all in the Shamrocks for their hospitality on the night.

Mick 'Bonzo' Tobin was a brilliant Midleton GAA man for many decades and it is very fitting that this cup is played for yearly to honour his memory....

JUNIOR A FOOTBALLERS

Best of luck to our Junior A Footballers who play Castlemartyr in their final East Cork Championship group game in Dungourney at 2pm on Sunday.

BEST OF LUCK DARREN

The very best of luck to our former player, Darren Quirke, who will represent Australasia at the upcoming GAA World Games in Derry from July 24th, where over 1,500 players from across the world will converge to celebrate Gaelic Games.

He will be supported by family and friends from Midleton and there's no doubt that he'll play a blinder. Special best wishes to Darren's grandmother and massive Midleton supporter, Olive Quirke, who celebrated a milestone birthday last weekend. A belated Happy Birthday Olive.

LADIES FOOTBALL

Our G4M&O team travelled to Aghada last night Friday evening for a challenge game. Fantastic football was played by both sides. Amazing to see how far our ladies have come since we started back in April. Well done to you all. All the hard work at training is paying off.

Training continues this Sunday evening from 7-8pm in Park South.
