Midleton GAA Club Notes

By Ger Lawton PRO Midleton GAA Club.
The Executive Committee of Midleton GAA have ratified the following management team to take charge of the Midleton senior hurling team for the 2023 season.
Manager: Micheal Keohane. Selectors: Pat Walsh, Padraig O'Shea and Aylwin Kearney.
All four men have represented the club as players at the highest level with Padraig captaining and Alywin at full-back when Midleton won the county senior title in 2013.
Micheal has been very involved in many aspects of the club in recent years, on and off the field, including as an underage and camogie coach. He was also part of the 2021 County winning backroom team.
Pat Walsh was a selector in the 2013 county winning team and since then he has coached various Midleton teams. In 2022 he led the Magpies' U-19s to become the first ever team to win that county hurling title and he was also a selector with the county winning U-13 team. He also coached the Midleton Junior A Hurling team in 2022.
As mentioned above, Padraig O'Shea captained Midleton to County Senior Hurling glory in 2013 and this year played a starring role as the Magpies junior team reached the East Cork semi-final. This season he was part of Peter Smith's coaching team with Dungarvan in the Waterford senior hurling championship.
Alywin Kearney was also a member of the 2013 County winning team and since then, when not travelling, he has gained lots of experience as a coach with various Midleton CBS teams.
We wish the four lads and their backroom team the very best of luck for 2023.
In last night's 2023 SHC draw we were drawn in Group A along with Blackrock, Glen Rovers and Bishopstown.
Finally, we would like to thank the 2022 senior hurling management team of Steve Kane, James O'Connor, Ger Fitzgerald Cristoir O Cathasaigh and Terence McCarthy for their huge work and committment to the cause and of course for Steve, Ger and Ter for their contribution to the 2021 County title win.
Up the Magpies.....
